Scenes From Films That I Wish Would Happen To Me In Real Life...

Scenes From Films That I Wish Would Happen To Me In Real                                                  Life .....

As a child I would always dream of being the main characters and some scenes to this day I wish I could experience for myself.

  1.  The Sound Of Music.
The 'I am 16 going on 17 scene. Now I realise he is basically saying she needs a man and she isn't able to cope on her own but I love the dancing and the dress in this scene.

  2. The Little Mermaid.

The swimming up to the surface scene. As a kid I would go the the bottom of the sea or pool and swim up to the top swirling as she did and singing the song.

I would also try and brush my hair with a fork.

3. Dirty Dancing.

The iconic lift at the end of the movie. I think I would actually be too scared to try it and I doubt anyone could lift me.

4. The Notebook.

The scene where Allie jumps into Noah's arms after work. To be honest any scene with Allie and Noah I would happily like to live out.

5. Clueless

Her wardrobe. At the begining of the movie when she picks her outfit via computer I always wanted a system like that.

6. The perks of being a wallflower.

The standing out the car scene. This is a recent fantacy, again I would never have the actual courage to do it but this is a beautiful movie scene.

7. The Wizard Of Oz.

Her red shoes. Along with cinderellas shoes, these red sparkly shoes I have always adored. If I could find a similar pair I would buy and wear them not caring what I look like.

8. Matilda.

The pancakes and the scene where she tidies up. I loved Roald Dahl and this movie sparked my conviction I could control things with my mind and my love of pancakes for some reason. Oh and bows in my hair obviously.

9. The Parent Trap.

Classic dream of going to summer camp to fing my long lost twin sister and reunite my family. Also the pranks played on each other I tried out on my siblings.

10. Spy Kids.

Who didn't want to be a spy kid. I wished I had their spy weapons and could take a submarine to an island with loose animals. I never understood how she could fight with her hair down though!! I also wanted those food pass things- shame they don't exist.

The list of scenes from movies that I wish would happen to me in real life is endless but these were just 10 I could think of today.

Book Review - The Muse by Jessie Burton.

                              The Muse Book Review.

Jessie Burton.

It still amazes me how this is only her second novel, I fell in love with her writing from The Miniaturist, which outsold J K Rowling's first book, I even choose to compare that novel to Jane Eyre for my coursework.

The thing I loved the most about this book was her writing style, her writing is fluent and feels very professional in a way, almost typically British if that makes sense?
I also loved the two stories that as the novel progressed they merged swiftly into one. The last few chapter, for me personally were a complete plot twist as right at the last minute Jessie completely shifted the plot to what she led me to believe. I thought half way through the only downside was that it was a predictable ending but then within a sentence my whole thesis was destroyed ! Amazing .

Even though I have not idea or real passion for art, this book made me appreciate other peoples appreciation, you don't have to be an art fan to appreciate the skill it takes to create art. This book also made me realize how every piece of art has a story behind it, Jessie has an extensive imagination to give art such a beautiful yet tragic story.

This book has strong themes of identity, race, youth and defiantly self growth. The characters grow as they along with you uncover more of the mystery and as one story in the book is set in 1960s London there's a real sense of social boundaries being pushed.

This read is gripping but I have to say it is a book that needs concentration and memory. Its not a light read as it deals with some sensitive topics that Jessie incorporates with the empathy they deserve.

I would give this book 4.4/5

The Best Banana Bread Recipe!

                     The Best Banana Bread Recipe!

Hello my lovelies i have tried a a number of banana bread recipes and this one is the absolute best !
Its so super simple yet so so delicious!! Seriously it is like the most moist ( sorry I hate that word too)  sweet  and dense little slices of heaven. You are going to LOVE it !!

Ingredients:

270 g soft light brown sugar
2 eggs
200 g peeled bananas, mashed ( very ripe )
280 g plain flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground ginger
140 g unsalted butter, melted

Lets get started !

Preheat the oven to 170 degrees c . ( 325 degrees Fahrenheit).  Gas 3

1)  Put the sugar and eggs in a freestanding electric mixer with a paddle attachment ( or use a handheld electric whisk ) and beat until well incorporated.

2)  Beat in the mashed bananas.

3)  Add the flour, baking powder, bicarbonate of soda, cinnamon and ginger to the sugar mixture.

Mix it thoroughly intil all the dry ingredients have been incorporated into the egg mixture.

4)  Pour in the melted butter and beat until the ingredients are well mixed.

5) Pour the mixture into the prepared loaf tin and smooth over with a pallet knife.

6) Bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour, or until firm to touch and a skewer inserted in the center comes out clean.

7) Leave the cake to cool slightly in the tin before turning out onto a wire cooling rack. .

.

And there we go, technically you should leave the banana bread to cool completely but I can never resist taking a warm slice whilst its still hot because it smells soooo good.

This recipe is firm on the outside but moist on the inside, and when its still hot it is pure bliss, You have got to try it!

                                                             Have fun, Ellie xx
